I thought it was time once again to revamp the site, I’m going to keep making slight changes to the way that the site navigates over the next few days so keep watching.

The videos on the site will be updated and hoping to get some HD ones too.

Anyways until I post again!

I’m on the road

Hey,

I just thought that I would make a quick post about what I have been doing lately.

Well, so far this summer, I have moved to the great state if Kansas just on the outskirts of Kansas City.

I just left Jackson Hole, Wyoming. My brother just got married out there and it was a beautiful scene when the sun when down behind the Teton Mountain Range.

I’m currently staying at the Marriott Hotel in Vail, Colorado! I have never been to Colorado so I have been hiking in the mountains as much as possible. If you guys and gals want I can add some of the photos that I took. They are not fish related but they are a pretty sweet if you ask me :D

Until I post again,

-Mark

The New Layout is Here!

So the new layout is here and is in full swing. I’ve been fixing errors that the site has had since I started it. To sum up what I did:
Trimmed some fat and made the site a little easier on the eyes and more user friendly.

I was going through and thought about bringing the forum back, I’ll make you a deal.
If I get 10, that’s right, just 10 comment on this post alone asking for the forum to come back I will bring it back. The NEW forum will be way different than the last one and will be more user friendly to go along with the layout that you guys are seeing right now.

So get them comments flowing and we’ll just see what happens.

P.s feedback on the new layout would be nice as well :)

Otocinclus

Dwarf suckermouth catfish a.k.a oto cat
otocinclus affinis

It belongs to the family Loricariidae

Click here to learn more about the catfish in general.

Origin:
Southeast Brazil

Description:
A slender catfish with a suckermouth. A fairly high dorsal fin, but no adipose fins. About 1 ½ inches in length (4cm).

Color:
A base color that is light greenish gray to a muddy yellow. The fins have no color, or in some cases a light green.

Sexual distinction:
Mature females will be much bulkier.

Tank conditions:
Needs a current of some kind. So you can’t just have one in a bowl that doesn’t have a filter current, or current from a bubble curtain. Temperature 68-73 degrees Fahrenheit (20-23 Celsius). The ph and hardness ratings are not that important. The tank should be well planted with lots of hiding places.

If you want your site to be put in this space here on Markspetfish.com, simply click here to be brought to the “Add your Site,” page for more information
.

.

And don’t worry about the plants, the oto cat a.k.a dwarf suckermouth catfish will eat the algae that grows on them. That brings me to my next subject.

Food:
Will mainly eat vegetation, will also eat very small worms. Most people often buy the oto cat a.k.a dwarf suckermouth catfish to eat the algae growing in their tank, which it will earn it’s keep by doing.

Behavior:
Usually remains under cover during the day, most active at dusk and during the night, which is it’s normal feeding time. Will attach it self to the sides of vertical slabs of rock, plant leaves and stems or the side of the glass.

Sexual reproduction:
A difficult fish to breed, but what I’ve learned is that they breed similar to Corydoras. The eggs hatch after 2-3 days. The fry should be feed baby brine shrimp (artemia nauplii) micro worms or egg yolk powdered very very fine.

Compatibility:
Somewhat territorial but harmless. They will be just fine in a mixed aquarium when enough room is given.
