I still remember when I first started out in the aquarium world years ago and I can still remember the first thing that crossed my mind after I decided to start an aquarium. The aquarium it self!
I began my hunt for the perfect Mini Aquarium Starter Kit.
Many things need to be taken into account, size, shape, aesthetics (for me at least), and of course cost.
Size: How many fish did I want and what type? After much research I figured it would be a safe move to go with some smaller, hardy fish such as guppies, platy’s and mollies. Cheap, hardy fish. You can search my site here from tons of information on all of them.
Shape: Didn’t even know that a variety existed until I was up to my eyeballs in tanks at the local fish store. That’s when my imagination started pumping. Did I want a tank that would fit perfect in the corner, on the table on a stand. I decided I wanted one that could go on a desk or a bed or even the kitchen counter.
Aesthetics: After all, an aquarium is not something you simply put away when company is coming over, in fact it’s the complete opposite! I want my family and friends to see and be fascinated by what I’m passionate about.
Cost: There are some setups that honestly cost $1000.00 after all is said and done and for someone just starting out, now knowing if I was going to stay in the hobby I didn’t want to make that large of an investment. I decided my budget was roughly $50-100.
After all these factors had been considered and after some research I found the perfect fit for my needs.
It’s called the Marineland Eclipse Acrylic Aquarium System. This system was a godsend when I was starting out and in fact, even if your not starting out!
“The Marineland Eclipse Seamless Integrated Aquarium System combines a 3-stage Eclipse Filtration and Lighting System with a high-quality seamless aquarium, TetraCare support, and an informative fishkeeping guide in a complete package. The high-performance Eclipse Rite-Size Filter Cartridge and patented Marineland BIO-Wheel provide total mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration, ensuring 100-percent water-to media contact for excellent water quality and a healthy environment for your fish and plants. The specially selected fluorescent daylight lamp promotes plant growth and brings out the brilliant natural colors of ornamental fish. Easy to set up, operate, and access with top-mounted Eclipse filtration that provides ample space for added accessories like heaters or airline tubing (sold separately).”
This type of tank is called an Aquarium Kit. And in this case because of it’s size a Mini Aquarium Starter Kit.
It’s perfect in so many ways, small, easy to clean, great viewing angels (hexagon style) and is under $50!
Now, you will need a small aquarium heater if you want anything other than goldfish.. But those are cheap too, under $12.00.
And with over 170+ reviews I recommend that you at least take a look at the Marineland Eclipse Acrylic Aquarium System.
