    @ Steven Royens,

Welcome to my site Steven and thanks for the comment.

That’s quite the collection of fish that you have there. Mind sharing what kind you have.

Haha I like how you just kept playing off the “tee” at the end there. It’s harder than you think to come up with names when you try to actually wright them down. I think Yammstammer McGoo is worthy of being on the list.

So come on people Steven and I had are go at making up some names, I think it’s your turn now.

    Bubbles
    Swimmi

    Napolean
Dumb & Dumber (if you have two fish that act stupid)

    Badge
    Bait
    Barney
    Bitsy
    Blade
    Boomer
    Calvin
    Charlie
    Cheech
    Clark
    Clash
    Doug
    Eureka
    Finley
    Flounder
    Gilbert
    Killer
    Lulu

    Max
    Moe
    PeeWee
    Pepper
    Petey
    Salt
    Speedy
    Spud
    Squirt
    Whipper

I like to visit this page to see if anyone else has any other cool fish names. I have this page saved to my favorites. Well thanx again!!

    Welcome to the site Anonymous!

Do you have a funny fish names for the list? If they are really funny I will add it or them to the list and give you the credit.

  8. Brianna says:

HEY!!! It’s me Brianna again. I just got back from getting my fish. When I got to Wal-mart to get them I got over-excited and got 7 fish instead of 5. I got 4 betta fish, and 3 gold fish. I decided on all of their names. Twitch, Bubbles, Vinnie, Nemo, Squirt, OGW, and Spazz. My Aunt Wendy took me to get my fish, so that’s where I got OGW from. Her nickname at work is Oh Great Wendy. All of my Betta fish are VERY beautiful!! I love my selection. And thanx for adding some of my fish names onto your list. I thought those ones where pretty cute too. Lol.

  9. Mark says:

    Hi Brianna!

haha getting more fish than you intended on usually happens. I know that is happens to me too at least :) Those are some good names too, and that’s funny about your Aunt’s nickname and cool that you can name your fish after her.

And I believe that your Betta are just stunning, would you mind showing the rest of us by taking some pictures? I would really like to see them. Also if you want to take pictures of your gold fish that would be awesome too! I really like seeing my readers fish, if you want to take some pictures and have any trouble uploading them let me know and I will help you.

Also I’m sure that you have already seen it but I will give you the link to the Bettas profile.

  10. Brianna says:

K thanx. I will try to take some pictures of them tomorrow. They are very pretty fish.

  11. Brianna says:

Hey, it’s me again. I couldn’t sleep, so I decided I could take the pictures of the fish tonight, but the camera batteries where dead. I do have a couple of questions for you though. How many times a day do I feed Betta fish? And how about gold fish? It doesn’t say on the label of the food. How often should I clean Betta fish’s bowls? Gold fish? And also, why do all of my gold fish swim to the top of the bowl and keep continuously opening and closing their mouths? It looks like they’re grasping for air. I no that it’s not because they aren’t getting enough food because they do it all the time, even after I feed them at least two pinches. And when I went to take the pictures of the fish, before the camera died like 3 min. after trying to use it, their where big glares on the fish bowls. And I can’t turn the flash off. Sorry I can’t get the pictures.

  12. Mark says:

    Hi Brianna,

I have answered your question on the Betta care page for you.

  16. sandra frank says:

HI, I LOVE SHARKS THEY ARE MY FAVORITES, TOO BAD I CANNOT SWIMG WITH THEM, BUT I ENJOY THEM LIKE PETS, THEY ARE SO ADORABLES, THEIR NAMES: RANDY AND ILYA. MY QUESTION IS: CAN I PUT MY LIVE PLANTS THAT I HAVE AROUND THE HOUSE IN THE FISH TANK INSTEAD?

  17. Mark says:

    Hello Sandra Frank,

First let me welcome you to the site and hope to see more posts from you. :)

But you will not want to put the plants that you have around your house into your fish tank. The plants around your house are not aquatic plants and they will rot and deteriorate in your tank. This means they will actually pollute the tank and cause harm to your fish. I’m betting that you have been in a pet store and saw the plants that they have for sale, it stinks that they cost a little more then normal house plants but they are the only kind that you can put into your tank. If, however, you live by a freshwater lake you can actually tank some plants our of the lake, wash them really well and add them to your tank. Be sure to try and remove all the things living all the plants, they could possibly cause harm to your fish and you want to make sure that you clean the plant really well anyways to make sure that there are no snails on the them. Your tank can be overrun with snails and so that’s a risk no matter what but just try to clean the plants really good.

I hope this helped a little more and I am looking forward to more questions.

  18. Jaci says:

hey! i just got two fish. they both look the same except they have totally different sizes. PLUS one has HUGE eyes. got any names???
    thanks

  19. FishLover says:

Hey! I had a question. I was wondering if anyone has some great names for the new fish that I got today. It is a FEMALE Dalmation Balloon Molly that has a lot of black, but not enough to name it something black, like “Tar Baby” of something. It would be great if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!

  20. FishLover says:

By the way, I want to name it something that has something to do with the fact that it is spotted. Thanks again!

  21. FishLover says:

These are the names of my fish:

    Male Betta: Blast
    Male Betta: Waterfall
    Female Balloon Molly: Kolei
Female Balloon Molly: ? – the one I havent named!
    Male Guppy: Tigger
    Male Guppy: Logan
    Male Guppy: Marble

  22. Mark says:

    Welcome to my site FishLover!

Well congrats on the new fish and so now you just need a name…

How about Marble. Like marble rock is a mix or colors so it would fit with the fish’s mixed black and white theme.

Or because the balloon Mollys look really fat you could call it Big Bertha haha.

Let me know what you think, I’m feeling the Big Bertha one haha

  23. FishLover says:

Thanks for the names, but I already have a guppy named Marble.

Big Bertha is OK, but it kind of reminds me of a girl that is fat and mean, but she is really sweet and not too fat, even though she is a balloon molly.

Are there any names that have to do with the fact that she is spotted?

    Thanks

  24. FishLover says:

By the way, i thought Beyonce was a pretty good name because my new balloon molly has a pretty big tail, but, like I said, I want a name that reflects that fact that she is spotted.

    How about Speckles?

    Thanks again,
    Fish Lover

  25. FishLover says:

    Dear Jaci,

I used to have a fish with really big eyes too. Some of these names might help:

    Popeye?
    Bugeyes?
    Pop?
Rendo? – Gaelic for “large pupils”

    Hope that helped!

  26. FishLover says:

    Hey, me again!

I had 2 questions for Mr. Mark.

One, I noticed that you only respond in the evening. I need a new name by tomorrow and these are some that I came up with. Question 2 is which ones do you like the best?

    Oreo?
    Bianca?
    Chloe?
    Speckles?
    Sprinkles?
    Leila?
    Splotches?
    Confetti?
    Dapples?
    Patches?
    Black Splatter?

Also, in addition to telling me which ones you think are the best, please tell me which ones that you do not like as well. Those I need to cross out on my list.

    Thank you so much!

  27. Mark says:

    Welcome back FishLover!

Ok, so I really like Patches and Speckles. I would put those names into a hat or something and draw to see what the new name is.

Or, now this might not be as good, but how about Spot? Or Spotsy? Or even Dot. But you choose, I hope I was able to give you some more to think about.

In addition I like these names but I think the other 2 are better.

    Oreo
    Chloe
    Sprinkles
Dapples – It’s unique and so that’s why I like that one :)
    Splotches

    I don’t really care much for…..

    Bianca
    Leila
    Confetti
or Black Splatter – I was on the fence about weather or not I like this one but in the end I crossed it off, but it’s not that bad.

Also be sure to check out the main list at the top of the page, I have added a few of the names that you mentioned. :)

P.s I was wondering if you could send me some pictures of your fish, I would really like to see them :)

If do want to take some pictures please send them to Mark@markspetfish.com

And you should let me know what name you choose because now I’m curios with all the names that we have talked about.

    Thanks!

  28. FishLover says:

Thank you, that helps a lot!

I have made taking pics of my fish an official hobby, so I have some I can send. I just don’t know how.

If you can tell me how, I could send you some.

    Thanks!
    – Fish Lover -

  29. FishLover says:

By the way, thanks for telling me which names that you didn’t like. I crossed them all off on my list except for Leila. My mom said it was pretty when you pronouce it LAY-lah. She said that was a song about a girl named Leila too.

I haven’t officially named her yet, but I am sort of narrowing it down to the following:

    Speckles
    Dapples
    Splotches
    Oreo
    Chloe
    Patches
    Leila

Oh wait, that’s actually all of them! This is so hard. I can’t stand just naming my fish anything, so I have to pick THE most creative, unique, and fitting name for the fish as possible. I am not very picky – except when I comes to naming pets!

    I need some help.

    Thanks again,

    ————Fish Lover————

  30. FishLover says:

I thought some more and narrowed it down to the following 5 names:

    -Speckles
    -Chloe
    -Dapples
    -Oreo
    -Leila

I eliminated 2 of them, Splotches and Patches, but there are still 5 more to go. I would like to know your 3 favorites, in order from first to last, and the 2 that you don’t really care for. I have decided to let my family vote on my fish’s name from the final 3.

    Thanks,

    -Fish Lover-

  31. Mark says:

    Hi Fish Lover!

I can help you send pictures. Go into your email account, write a new email then there should be the option to “attach” files and then you will be given the option to search your computer for your pictures. Just click on the ones you want to send me and then it will attach them and then send the message to me at Mark@markspetfish.com.
If you want more help I am more then will to help you. I really want to see some pictures.

And now to help you with the names.

    My favorite 3:

First place goes to Speckles – It’s very fitting

Second place goes to Dapples – It’s unique and somewhat fitting.

Third place goes to Leila – It’s very unique and there is a story behind it with your mom.

And I mean it would be cool to have your fish named after a song, I mean, you could listen to the song while cleaning your tank or something, just to help make the cleaning process a little more enjoyable.

Hope I helped a little more this time! :)

And if you need help with the pictures just let me know.

  32. FishLover says:

Thank you sooooooooooooooooooo much for helping me choose a name for my new fish! We voted and I named her. . . Speckles!

I have the pics and I read your response, but now my only question is – How do you get the pics into your computer?

    Thanks!

    -Fish Lover-
